Receiving

What tracking tells you, and what it does not

Tracking answers four practical questions. It is a record of status, not a promise about arrival time.

Tracking exists to answer four questions, and it is worth being clear about which four.

  • Has the parcel been picked up?
  • Who is carrying it?
  • Where is it now?
  • Has it reached the receiver?

Pinned shows all four to both the sender and the receiver, from check-in through to delivery, while keeping the doorstep handover code private. That combination is the point: visibility for the people with a stake in the parcel, and secrecy for the one piece of information that proves who the parcel belongs to.

A status is a record, not a promise

A tracking update tells you a parcel's recorded status. It is not a guarantee of an exact arrival time unless the service you chose states one, and the speeds — Express, Priority, Standard, Overnight — describe what each option aims for rather than what it promises. Read the tracker alongside the booking details rather than instead of them.

This is not a hedge. It is the difference between a system that reports what has happened and one that predicts what will. The first is useful because it is always true.

Checking the person in front of you

Once a runner picks up a parcel, their name and photo appear on the tracker. Before you hand over a code or take a parcel, check that they match the person in front of you.

If anything does not line up, stop. Do not hand over the code, and contact Pinned Flow through the official support channel rather than a number somebody gives you at the door.

The code is the one thing nobody else sees

Everything else about a delivery is visible to both ends. The handover code is not. It goes only to the receiver and never appears on the public tracker, which is what makes it worth something — it is the single piece of the delivery that only the right person can supply.
